Academics

Dual enrollment courses are college classes taken at Middletown High School. Scholars earn college credits at the same time they are earning high school credits. These courses are taught by high school teachers who are adjunct professors for the colleges offering the course. Scholars earn their credits at no cost to their families.

The mission of the Library Media Center at Middletown High School is to support the entire school community including scholars, staff, and parents in maintaining a commitment to educational excellence. The LMC staff deliver services to support and encourage scholars to become lifelong learners and legacy makers.  The LMC program provides access to materials and resources on curriculum subjects and personal interests in a variety of formats in order to assist scholars in becoming active, independent locators, evaluators, and users of information in an information-driven society. The Middletown High School LMC encourages creative and intellectual thinking practices in all patrons.

The Middie Museum is a collaboration between the library and the Social Studies department with the goal of creating learning experiences for MHS scholars of all grades. Scholars are able to experience the curriculum outside the traditional learning environment. The benefits include allowing scholars an opportunity to be active in their own learning with curated hands-on activities. Experiences, such as this, help to improve reading comprehension because it allows readers to connect new information to existing knowledge they already have. When readers are more familiar with a topic and related vocabulary, they can make better sense of the material, draw inferences, analyze information more critically, and are able to better evaluate an author's perspective.
